Welcome to the Djanogly City Academy website.
I hope that as you explore the site you will get a flavour of the unique culture and ethos that exists within our school.
Our aim is very simple and that is to be recognised as outstanding in every aspect. The determination of staff and governors to achieve this goal is very strong and is based on a simple but direct strategy – “Achievement: No Excuses."
Our Year 11 students who graduated in 2017 had a phenomenal year. Their results were the best the Academy has ever achieved and they made everyone very proud. These results were built upon strong foundations over the last three years and improved on the previous year’s remarkable gains. It would be impossible to list all the many individual successes our pupils enjoyed this summer but particular mention does need to be made for those students who overcame significant barriers to their achievement, many of whom were being examined in their 2nd or 3rd language.
The way schools are assessed has changed quite significantly in the last two years. A key measurement now is the Progress 8 score which measures the value that is added by a school. Djanogly City Academy’s Progress 8 score ranks us
- as number one in the city by some distance;
- in the top 10% of the country;
- as the second most improved school in the country.
A further indicator that the Academy continues to improve is the attendance. It is a simple truth that you cannot improve your learning if you are absent. With better lessons, better behaviours and less exclusions our attendance is the highest it has ever been for Year 11.
Some notable additions to the staffing provision, the impressive attitudes to learning shown by students and their current learning positions give me immense confidence that this academic year will continue in the same tremendously positive manner as the last.
There has never been a better time to join Djanogly, come and have a look for yourself.
