Parents and Carers
At Djanogly City Academy we recognise the importance of excellent communication with all of our parents and carers. We wish to ensure that every parent and carer has the opportunity to meet with all of their child’s subject teachers to discuss their progress and achievement, and to identify important areas for development and improvement.
Every year group has their own individual Parents/Carers Evening which takes place at a key point in their academic year. At this event every subject area and tutor group is represented. The Academy senior leadership team and members of our attendance, safeguarding and inclusion teams are also available to talk to.
Your attendance at Parents/Carers Evening is strongly recommended to enable you to continue to support your child’s achievement. We would like to recommend that if your own understanding of spoken English is limited, you attend supported by an English speaking family member or friend. The Academy will welcome their support.
How do I make appointments to see my child's teachers?
The Academy operate an appointment system for each Parents/Carers Evening. Your child will receive an appointment card and they will make appointments on your behalf. You will simply need to inform your child what time you plan to arrive at the Academy and your child will make appointments with their subject teachers and tutor on your behalf. Please make note of when parents evenings are on the term dates page and below.
When is the next Parents/Carers Evening?
Our next parents open event is for year 7 on Thursday May 24th.
We look forward to seeing you all at the Gregory Boulevard site from 17:00hrs
All parents & carers are strongly advised to attend these events and we have been very pleased with attendance increases throughout last year and the impact it has had upon the pupils. Now is a key time to work hard, be kind and ensure your child reaches their target for this year. While parents evenings are an excellent time to review your son/daughters progress, we encourage you to remain proactive and get in touch if you need further support or are in anyway concerned that your son/daughters progress in their classroom studies and homework is not as it should be.
Change of the school day consultation
We completed a consultation in relation to proposed changes to the school day for the academic year 2017/18 last academic year and now operate an extended day Monday to Thursday and a half day Fridays. Please download the letter here or on the letters page of this site: Letter. The academy shape of the day can now be downloaded from the academy homepage and is active from September 5th.
Due to the vast range of school trousers which are available in the shops we often have students arrive at the academy in inappropriate uniform. Students, with support from pastoral staff are then spending time changing their trousers, or are unable to attend lessons due to their incorrect uniform. To resolve this situation and make it fair for all students we will be phasing in new DCA uniform trousers for boys and girls. These will be the same charcoal colour, but will have DCA stitched into the side of the trousers. These will be available from our uniform shop at a cost of £13.50. Full letter can be accessed here or on the year team pages. Trouser_Letter
