Independent Study

Independent study provides an opportunity for scholars to work independently, to research, to carry out specific tasks and to prepare themselves effectively for the next stage in their learning.

Independent study may be required for the following day/week/month but scholars will always be given sufficient time to complete the work set.

There are, however, occasions when work will need to be completed before the next stage can be taught, and it will be necessary for scholars to complete this work on the evening it is set.

How often will homework be set?

Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8, 9) can expect one item of independent study per subject per week.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10, 11) can expect at least one item of independent study per subject per week.

Key Stage 4 scholars will also be expected to do revision in preparation for mock exams.

How will homework be set?

We will now be setting homework via Satchel:One (previously 'Show My Homework').  Please click on the logo below for more information.

Independent Study rooms

There are opportunities for scholars to have supervised independent study time at the beginning and end of the school day:

(Mon-Thurs 7.45am – 8.15am and 3.45pm – 4.30pm) to stay and complete work should they wish to do so.
