Our Scholars Take Centre Stage at Goose Fair!

Our Scholars Take Centre Stage at Goose Fair!

On Friday 25 September, scholars from Djanogly City Academy had the fantastic opportunity to perform at the Opening Bell Ringing Ceremony of Nottingham’s historic Goose Fair.

The traditional bell ringing marks the official opening of Goose Fair, one of Nottingham’s most famous and much-loved annual events. The ceremony brings together hundreds of people, including members of the local community, civic leaders and distinguished guests from across Nottingham and the surrounding area.

Our scholars had the honour of opening the event with a spectacular rendition of ‘The Greatest Show’ from The Greatest Showman. Their energy, confidence and talent made for a fantastic performance, and they did themselves, their families and Djanogly City Academy incredibly proud.

Performing in front of hundreds of people, our scholars also had the honour of performing for the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of Nottingham, alongside dignitaries and representatives from surrounding councils.

Their performance received some fantastic feedback from members of the audience. One member of the public told us that they had come to watch after hearing the scholars rehearsing and were so impressed that they initially thought the singing was coming from a CD! Another audience member was so impressed that they asked whether Djanogly City Academy was a Performing Arts school!

It was wonderful to see our scholars’ hard work and dedication recognised by the Nottingham community. They demonstrated tremendous confidence and professionalism throughout and were fantastic ambassadors for our school.

The performance even attracted attention from the local media, with our scholars featured in the Nottingham Post and on BBC Radio Nottingham.
