Academy Uniform

We pride ourselves with high standards of dress in school and ask for the cooperation of scholars and parents in maintaining these. A high standard of dress impacts on the working ethos of the Academy and how the wider community views our scholars.

Online Uniform Shop 

In the first instance, you must register an account via their website and once your order(s) is placed you will have the option for delivery to either your home/work address or to the school.

We advise parents in the first instance to order via the online shop; however, for urgent uniform requirements, or if the size you require is not in stock online, please enquire in school as we may have your items available.

Please note: shirts, trousers/skirts can be purchased at local shops. However, shirts must be sky blue and trousers/skirts must be charcoal grey.

BOYS (YEARS 7-11)

  • Academy Blazer – Academy regulation royal blue blazer, with official Academy badge.
  • Academy Clip-on Tie
  • Trousers - Academy regulation, grey, formal long trousers, regular fit only.
  • Shirt - Formal sky blue, long sleeves with stiff collar.
  • Socks - Plain black.
  • Shoes - Plain black lace-up or slip-on shoes in a formal style, which are cut below the ankle. Please note that boots, cloth plimsolls and trainers are not permitted.
  • Coat - (non-compulsory) Plain dark raincoat, duffel or anorak. A discrete logo is permissible. Coats are not to be worn in or around the Academy during the working day. Denim, hoodies and leather jackets are not permitted.
  • Religious Headwear – Plain black.

GIRLS (YEAR 7-11)

  • Academy Blazer - Academy regulation royal blue blazer, with official Academy badge.

  • Skirt or Trousers - Academy regulation, plain charcoal grey half pleated knee-length skirt, or plain charcoal grey, regular fit trousers.
  • Shirt - Formal sky blue, long sleeves with stiff collar.
  • Socks/Tights - Plain black ankle socks or tights. Knee length socks are not permitted.
  • Shoes - Plain black lace-up or slip-on shoes in a formal style, which are cut below the ankle. Please note that; boots, cloth plimsolls, heels, sling back shoes and trainers are not permitted.
  • Coat - (non-compulsory) Plain dark raincoat, duffel or anorak. A discrete logo is permissible. Coats are not to be worn in or around the Academy during the working day. Denim, hoodies and leather jackets are not permitted.

SPORTS CLOTHING

All scholars are expected to bring appropriate kit to all PE lessons. They should pay careful attention to which activities they will be participating in. Scholars who fail to bring appropriate PE kit for their lesson will be provided with clean garments to ensure their full participation in the lesson.

  • Shirt/Polo – Academy PE shirt with Academy logo.
  • Shorts – Navy shorts with Academy logo.
  • Tracksuit Trousers – Navy Academy tracksuit trousers, these are optional and will depend on the activity, weather conditions and will be at the teacher’s discretion.
  • Socks – Navy football socks/white sports socks.
  • Footwear – Training shoes to be appropriate to the activity/sports & football boots (moulded studs/blades.
  • Other – Swimming trunks, shin pads, mouth guard and towel.

All scholars will need a suitable bag for their PE kit and a plastic bag is recommended for carrying dirty boots.

Except in the case of serious injury, all scholars are expected to come to PE lessons prepared to take part in some physical activity or adopt another role within the lesson. If scholars have minor ailments they should bring a note from home explaining this and still bring their kit to participate appropriately.

 

FURTHER INFORMATION

All scholars will require an appropriate school bag containing; a pencil case, reading book and a homework planner.

SUMMER UNIFORM

At times of extreme heat, scholars will be informed by the Principal when ties and blazers may be taken off in the Academy. However, they must normally be worn on journeys to and from the academy and on any academy trips.

JEWELLERY

Scholars may wear a watch but no other jewellery is permitted due to health and safety issues and liability in case of loss. Therefore, if scholars wish to have any part of their body pierced they must arrange this at the beginning of the summer holidays so that the wound has sufficient time to heal.  Plasters may not be worn to cover body jewellery. If scholars disregard this, they will be isolated from other scholars until they comply with the regulation. (Religious necklaces and jewellery may be worn under clothing.)

HAIRSTYLES AND ATTIRE

Baseball caps are not permitted in any circumstances, including journeys to and from the Academy.

Hairstyles should not be extreme.  Parents should consult, in advance, with the achievement lead, if they are unsure as to the suitability of a change of style.  The Academy shall be the arbiter of the term 'extreme'.

MAKE-UP

For health and safety reasons, make-up and nail polish are not permitted. In exceptional circumstances light foundation will be permitted to disguise skin complaints. The Academy shall be the arbiter of the term 'exceptional circumstances'.

False nails are not permitted.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

In cases of financial hardship, parents can appeal to the principal/governors for financial support.  Such cases will be treated with due sensitivity and in confidence.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

Parents can apply in writing to the school governing body if they wish their child(ren) to wear different items for religious, cultural or health reasons.

LOCKERS

Lockers will be provided for scholars to store coats during the school Day.
