Pastoral
Pastoral Care and Guidance
Djanogly City Academy has a pastoral system that places the emotional, physical and moral well being of every one of our scholars before any other consideration.
Our pastoral teams know each scholar as an individual and treats them as such throughout their time at the school and beyond. From year 7 to College, a caring team of professionals guides each scholar’s path through the school with unrivalled experience in pastoral care.
Support, Care and Guidance
At Djanogly City Academy we pride ourselves on the quality of support, care and guidance given to individual scholars.
At the core of this provision is our Forum and Values system led by the students themselves with support from the Graduate Leaders, the Achievement Leaders and the Deans of Students. Every student will have a Values leader, who they meet with on a daily basis.
Our Forum and Values provides your child with the support, guidance and care they need whilst allowing them to nurture friendships and develop a strong sense of community.
We also have a range of academic and emotional teams in place to advise and support our students. Included in this are our Safeguarding Team, the Behaviour Managers, an Academy Counsellor, Teaching Assistants and our Deans of Students. The Deans have no teaching commitment, meaning their time is committed to the well-being and care of all students in the academy.
As your child develops through Djanogly City Academy, their progress and well-being will be closely monitored, ensuring that scholars are recognised and rewarded when they succeed and supported when things are more challenging.
Djanogly City Academy is a caring community where the health, happiness and wellbeing of students underpins our overall ethos and philosophy.
Language Support
Additional support is available for students whose first language is not English.
Scholars will spend time with our specialist staff to help improve written and spoken English. They will also enjoy cultural trips and activities to help them adapt to life in a British secondary school.
A translation service is also available for parents when meeting with teaching staff at the Academy.
