Djanogly City Academy

Year 6 Transition

Welcome to the Year 6 transition section of our website.

Here you will find an introduction from our Primary Liaison Officer, along with the links to other relevant web pages.

We hope you find all of the information you need to make the most informed decision when it comes to choosing a secondary school for your child.

Everyone at Djanogly City Academy is an extremely proud partner in the success of our academy. We have for the past number of years now been one of the most successful schools in the whole of Nottinghamshire, with results now placing us in the top 3% of schools nationally. Selecting Djanogly City Academy as your number one choice of school will enable your child to experience a family community, embedded within a safe, positive, encouraging and nurturing culture - one in which every success is acknowledged and celebrated.

Our mantra is, ‘Achievement: No excuses’ and we will support your child to achieve the results that will open doors to further study and, just as importantly, lead your child to become an independent and effective leader in society, intent on and capable of making a real difference to our world.

I would love to invite you all in to our academy to witness live our first class teaching and outstanding resources and to experience our business-like ethos.  However due to current circumstances this is simply not possible.

WHY CHOOSE DJANOGLY?

HOW HIGHLY DO SCHOLARS ACHIEVE

This is where you will start your five year journey to achieving the most important qualifications of your life...

We have been able to show consistent, high performing sets of exam results over recent years. Our most recent set of results are the best in the academy’s history, only just overtaking the record breaking results of the previous year.  We are now in the top 2-3% of schools in the country.

WHAT IS THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT LIKE FOR LESSONS?

Speak to people you may already know and ask them what it’s like...

Consistency in routines and expectations is something we value immensely. The ‘open door’ policy, to allow anyone to walk through the academy and see the same approach in learning, behaviour, attitude and effort is what we feel has lead to our success in recent years.

HOW MUCH PROGRESS DO THE SCHOLARS MAKE EACH YEAR?

Each year, we ensure that scholars make progress in line with their potential...

We have been proud of our Progress scores in recent years. We received National
recognition as the most improved school for progress.
Last year, our results placed us number one in Nottingham for progress and joint top in the entire county. We are confident the final figures this year from the DfE will be just as high.

WHAT EXPECTATIONS DOES THE ACADEMY HAVE?

What could happen if things don’t go as planned...

We have the highest expectations of our scholars at all times, therefore we have the highest standards of behaviour.

WILL THE SCHOOL CATER FOR ALL OF YOUR NEEDS?

We all have different needs that require different levels of support to help us feel confident to reach our true potential...

We take great pride in being a wonderfully diverse and inclusive academy. We offer pastoral support to every year group. Any additional needs are discussed with parents when required.

WHAT EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ARE THERE?

How can we enrich your school life...

We have a full timetable of enrichment activities, from Monday to Thursday.
We love providing opportunities for scholars to represent the academy in a range of
activities, such as sport and the Duke of Edinburgh award. In addition, we offer drama and music activities and are planning new drama productions later this year.

HOW WOULD YOU GET TO THE ACADEMY?

How long do you need to get to school in the morning? Planning is vital...

Our Sherwood Rise site is on a main road, with a bus stop right on the entrance to the academy. Our Gregory Boulevard site is also on a main road, with a bus stop near the academy. The site is also very close to a tram stop to support with transport.
