 Coronavirus Planning Update- 30.03.2020

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 20th March 2020

Dear Parents

Government advice continues to be clear – “If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be”.

The decision to close schools is in order to restrict the spread of the coronavirus at this time.

However, we recognise that some of you are essential key workers who need to continue to work and may not have family or friends who are able to provide childcare.

We are offering school hour’s childcare at our Sherwood Rise site for some essential workers.  This list has finally been published by the government and extends wider than we thought yesterday.  If you think this may apply to you please speak to staff today or by telephone next week.

This is a stressful time for us all.  Please remember that our staff have families too and are still doing everything they can to support your children.

We are all in this together so let’s all be kind and look forward to a return to a more normal world in the summer.  We wish you well.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parent/Carer,

In line with the Government’s latest update, our school will be closing for most children at midday tomorrow, March 20th, and until further notice.

If your child was in school yesterday (Wednesday) they were given work to do at home. We will get this work to  you if your child was absent.

There will be school activity places available for children of ‘key workers’. Please contact the school if you believe that your job qualifies as a key worker.

We have updated our website with links to various learning platforms that our scholars are expected to access during the school’s closure. The online resources are to be used in conjunction with any other materials that we hope to get to you on a regular basis.

Please check our website for updates and possible future changes to our  plans.

Best wishes.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 2

Wednesday 18th March

The government have so far said that schools should stay open and that the best place for children is at school during the coronavirus outbreak. We are however still planning to make sure that all scholars continue to be supported in the event that we are asked by the government to close, or in the event that we have to make the decision to close based on safe levels of staffing and supervision.

In case we do have to close, staff have created lesson packets for all children to take home today (Wednesday 18th March). In the folders, there are lots of lesson packets from their teachers, clearly labelled in the order that they need to work through them. There is also direction on how scholars can email their teachers to ask for help or guidance when they are working through the packets at home. Scholars must work through the packets in order and then bring the completed packets back in to school when we are open again. They will not need to bring them back to school before we are properly open again.

We have also detailed below useful on-line learning platforms, should scholars require further resources and support.

Please click here to access further resources and support.

Please continue to check our website regularly for further updates.

Thank you

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 1

Monday 16th March

As from Friday 13th March, the guidance to schools on managing the spread of Coronavirus has changed.

People with symptoms are no longer asked to call NHS 111, but rather to look for information on the NHS website and 111 online.

Anyone with a 'new, continuous' cough or high temperature has been asked to stay at home and self-isolate for seven days. Should any of our scholars in your care develop any of the symptoms detailed above, please inform us via the absence line on  0115 942 1300 for the Gregory Boulevard site (Y8, 9 and 10) and on 0115 942 4422 for the Sherwood Rise site (Y7 and 11).

There are no planned changes to timetables or school opening. We will continue to open as usual and to take specific Public Health England advice on a daily basis. We have no planned overseas travel, but we have cancelled other non-essential school trips within the UK until further notice.

Information regarding our COVID-19 contingency planning is available here
